Our Story

Animals truly need the voices of their human advocates. All too often when the interests of man and animal are in conflict, man prevails. Animal welfare is a social matter of which people need to learn to be passionate. The Eau Claire County Humane Association is dedicated to educating the public about the need for humane treatment of all animals and responsible pet ownership.

Adoption

How to Adopt

Deciding to bring a pet into your home means a major change in lifestyle. Pet adoption should be a thoroughly considered decision and not a spur of the moment idea, especially considering this pet will be a part of your family for as long as the next 10 to 20 years. Therefore, it is imperative to consider the "for better and for worse" aspects of adoption before making any decisions.

Make sure you consider all the possibilities before selecting a pet that will be with you for a lifetime. And remember, we are always getting new dogs into the shelter, so check back often for your perfect match.

Adopt Other Animals

If you are considering adopting a pet other than a dog or cat, think about what role you want a companion to take in your life. Are you looking for an animal to cuddle and show affection to or do you want an independent sidekick that keeps its own schedule? No matter what animal you decide to adopt, be certain you are ready to handle all the responsibilities that come with it. And remember, we are always receiving new animals into the humane association so be sure to check back often for your next pet.
