In the summer of 2006, an ECCHA volunteer started the We All Love our Pets program in Eau Claire to provide pet food and supplies to senior citizens who are part of Meals on Wheels program in Eau Claire County. These individuals do not have the means to leave their homes on a regular basis to pick up food and supplies for their pets. They also do not have the financial capability to purchase these items themselves. However, many of them consider their pets to be family members, and in many cases their pets are the only family they have.
WALOP currently serves about ten human recipients who have cats, dogs, parakeets and fish. A WALOP volunteer contacts each person during the first week of the month to see what kind of food and supplies they need. Then deliveries are made on the first Saturday of every month.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Petco Foundation and individual donations from local community members. If you would like to donate towards this program, send your donations to: ECCHA, 3900 Old Town Hall Rd. Eau Claire, WI 54701; and designate the donation to go towards the WALOP program.
