Pit Bulls- "Pet Bulls" to us : The American Pit Bull and Staffordshire Terrier have been given a bad
reputation. The reputation for attacking humans is a long-standing one. They can be the sweetest most loving and loyal pet you can know, but there are some definite rules to follow if you are going to be a guardian (owner) of one of these magnificent animals. Historically this breed has been bred to fight other dogs, so it IS in their genetics to do so. So if you want more than one dog, you will need to supervise them whenever they are together and NEVER trust your Pit Bull not to fight. They may grow up with other dogs and do well as a puppy, but at about 8 months of age they reach adolescence, and their demeanor with other dogs can change dramatically. But the good news is that Pit Bulls have also been bred to NOT BE AGGRESSIVE TO HUMANS, And statistically they are not at the top of the list on aggression to humans. As with ANY dog, they cannot be left unsupervised with small children, toddlers, or infants (No breed can). What Animal Do I Speak Of?
