"Happy Homes"

If you have a happy homes story about your ECCHA adopted pet that you would like to contribute, please send a photo and story to webmaster

My name is Tara -my fiance (Nate) and I adopted two kittens from the shelter last Christmas. They were formerly known as Jack and Jill (brother and sister) in foster care with Amy from the animal control department. They brought so much life into our home and I could have never asked for two better kittens.

Here is a picture of Lillian, our cat that we addopted December 30, 2006. She likes to be on the cat tree by the wood stove.

Thank you for adopting out Dunbar! He has been great to have in my home. When he looks for me around the house he makes a chirping sound, he sounds like a bird.

I adopted "Pumpkin" on Nov. 28, 2007; My sons and I renamed her 'Emma,' and she's adjusted to life in our household wonderfully! Emma and our dog, Mocha, adore each other and will sleep next to each other on the floor. The boys love to play with and cuddle Emma, so she is never lacking attention. I've included two pictures, taken last night, while Emma and the boys watched "Rudolph."

Annie is a real blessing to our family. She is just bubbling over with love and a real joy to be around. We love her so much! Thank you!

Just wanted to send a few pictures your way. This has been the easiest transition I've ever seen! Boxers (he's the other kitty in the pictures that looks like a short-haired version of Aslan) was the most defiant when I got Aslan home but now they actually hang out together. It only took 2 days for the growling and hissing to stop and there's no question that Aslan knows where the litter box is.... We've been having an adjustment period with the food change... his odor even scares him out of the room.
The little dog with him on the couch is Marbles. The dog sitting next to him at the screen door is Kramer (he was "Derrick" when he was living with you guys at the shelter) and the dog outside the screen door is Dexter. (He is also a ECCHA alum from 13 years ago)

We just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful and loving kitty. We adopted DeWalt Thomas (formerly known as Tommy) from your shelter on New Year’s Day.

We made our first trip to the shelter in November with a friend who was looking to adopt a kitten and saw him in the cage in the hallway. We did our best to have our friend adopt him, but our friend was stuck on the kitten thing, so we had to leave. (We were in-between houses at the time and couldn’t adopt him ourselves.) Two months later, after moving into a new house we went back just to visit with the animals. To our surprise DeWalt was still there! We couldn’t just leave him, so we applied and took him home the next day!

What a great addition to the family. When he arrived he was a very quiet and very shy kitty who enjoyed sleeping in the basement. However, it didn’t take him long to learn he had arrived home. Now, we have a hard time keeping him quiet, and he is always the center of our attention.

DeWalt is a very big cat, but we know he’ll never be overweight. Not only does DeWalt like to cuddle, he loves to play. His favorite toy is a laser pen. We really enjoy watching him run around to try to catch the light!

Now that we have him we don’t know what we would do without him. He is truly the best cat we have ever met. It is no wonder the person at the desk was sad to see him go.

Thank you so much for taking care of our cat before we met him!

A few months ago i adopted Hannah and Coco. I'm pleased to say that there
doing very well and that Coco is a true sweetie. She's so cuddley and she
sleeps with me every night. Hannah is more of the hyper playful type. Shes
always playing with kitty toys or chillin out in her kitty castle. They get
along as if they were sisters. and they enjoy picking on my dog. There both
such a blessing to out family and thank you so much.

Yours truely
Katelyn
