"Happy Homes"

If you have a happy homes story about your ECCHA adopted pet that you would like to contribute, please send a photo and story to webmaster

I am settling into my new home in West Salem quite well. I have included pictures of me and my new sister Scooter.

Mom changed my name back to Leo (I was Bozo at the shelter). Leo was the name that was given to me by Mary and Dan when they found me and brought me to ECCHA. Even though Mary and Dan are friends of my new mom, they did not know that there were family connections to the name Leo when they named me! It was destiny that they found me and told Mom about me!

Mom took me to the Vet the first week I was with her and Doctor Amy gave me a clean bill of health. We did find that I have a broken tooth. Fortunately it is a baby tooth so my adult tooth will push it out. It must have broken when I was playing with Scooter. Dr. Amy thinks I was born at the end of March. I have also had the rest of my shots.
Scooter was a bit testy when Mom brought me home but she warmed up to me in just a couple of days. Now we chase each, fight, roll around and then stop and lick each others face! Sometimes Mom has to break us up with a squirt of water when we get carried away with the fighting but we have great fun together.

Next Thursday I have to go back to the Vet and spend the night there. I am not too happy about that but Mom says it will be OK and I will be back home on Friday. Oh well, at least Mom will get a good nights sleep because I won't be there to pester her by chewing on her fingers all night. I'm teething right now so I can be a pest. In fact I have had to spend a couple of nights shut out of the bedroom because I've been naughty. But I think I've learned my lesson because I've cut way back on that behavior and have been able to stay in the bedroom all night!

Thanks for taking care of me for the week that I spent with you!

Well that's all for now.

Do you think Cooper has adapted to her new home in just over 24 hrs? Her new name is Misty.

Aarick took her to dog obedience and she didn't graduate, but there is always next year. She will be competing in Gilmanton Community Fair and Buffalo County Fair. WE are working with her sitting at the side and long sits and downs. She will get it eventually. She is a great dog and we are so blessed to have her in our family.

The other pictures are her getting ready to go to class and getting a hug from Maggie.

Thanks again for choosing us to be her forever home,

wanted to update you on Ellie (beagle). we adopted her around 2000, and the people who gave her up said he chewed up thousands of dollars worth of furniture. well she doesn't chew up furniture but she does eat chapstick. we also adopted a puppy around 2003 we named him Benji (Irish Setter Mix). we is a very active dog and loves to play fetch and hide n go seek.

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a cat from your shelter and her name was Shammy. She is now renamed Stella and is injoying having a home now. She likes to play with her toy mice, sit in the window and walk all over her cat walk. When we first brought her home she was a little shy but now she rules the house. She is the perfect cat for our family and we are so glad we were able to adopt her! She had some health issues when we adopted her, but now she is as happy as can be. We can't thank you enough for allowing us to take this wonderful cat home with us. Hope you enjoy all the pictures we sent!!

Thanks again,

Emily and Ryan

Hi. My name is Sir Beckett (formerly Dexter). I am a six year old "blue" Min Pin that was adopted from ECCHA in February. I wanted to write and tell you that I love my new home! From the moment I met my new mama, it was love at first sight for both of us. I snuggled right up to her chin and have been there ever since! I have settled into my new life here and have a new best "four pawed" friend, too! He is an "blue merle" Australian Shepherd that was also adopted from ECCHA a couple years before I arrived.

My mama is disabled and I have brought great joy to her life. I spin around in circles because I love to see her laughing. I was very insistent that I sleep with her and it didn't take very long for her to realize this was a great idea. I am an excellent snuggler and she is always telling me what a good boy I am. Did I mention that I am a very handsome dog? She tells me that all the time and I never get tired of hearing it. We take such good care of each other. She brings me a lot of joy too!!! I love to play with my camo boomerang and run around in my HUGE backyard. It seems like everyone I meet falls in love with me instantly. Even the neighbors come over to say hi when they get home from work. I am pretty irresistable. I have met many new friends.

So, do me a favor and tell the other doggies at ECCHA that it really is worth the wait. The people at ECCHA will make sure that you find good people who will love you and help you find a happy and forever home too!!! I know I can't thank them enough for finding my mama for me. We love each other so much.
