"Happy Homes"

"Cannon"

Adopted by George V.

My Grandpa Melvin from Barron, WI wanted me to let me know how much he has enjoyed the new addition to his home. He has wanted a cat for a long time. I told him he should adopt one from a local Humane Society. He agreed and before we knew it, we were on our way to your beautiful facility. We walked into the cat colony room and saw "Sally". Grandpa picked her up and she started to purr and rub noses with him. He adopted her in early December of 2004. She loves to sit on his lap while he watches the news. She plays with her toys and loves to look out the window at all the birds and squirrels. She has brought him much joy!

A sincere thank to everyone at the shelter for the wonderful job you all do and a huge thank you to the Purina Company for making this adoption possible. The program they have, "Pets for Seniors" is a wonderful program that allows senior citizens to adopt a pet and they will pay for the adoption fee.

Again, thank you for making my grandpa very happy!!

I am emailing because my wife said when we adopted the red chow Tina from your shelter this past December, she said you guys asked that we let you know after a while how she is doing.

After we got her home the kids wanted to give her a new name. I
figured this was fine since Tina was only a year old. So we went through a list of names & decided on Abbey. She has really been a great dog. Abbey is always happy to see us when we get home. She always jumps up on us & keeps her tail wagging. She seems particularly attached to me. Anytime I go somewhere else in the house she always follows me.

I feel bad sometimes because I might have go up & down the stairs a few times but Abbey will be right there with me. Anytime I am on the computer she lays below my chair. At night Abbey sleeps next to our bed or in our bed.Abbey is extremely playful. She loves playing with squeak toys. It's
funny to see her get one of those toys in her mouth because she will
keep biting down on it. I think she loves hearing the squeak noise
coming from it. Abbey goes nuts whenever I squeak the toy for her.
She always loves to chase around a tennis ball too She also loves playing with out other chow Ben. Abbey loves to get Ben to chase her around the house. She is able to do a complete 180 spin & run off at full speed again. She seems to be a bit of a hunter too. Abbey loves stalking birds & rabbits that have come through our backyard. She went completely nuts one day when we had her in the backseat of our car & she saw a rabbit out the window. It's funny to watch Abbey eat her food sometimes. She will put a few pieces in her mouth, run towards the wall & then throw all the food out of her mouth. Abbey will then track down each of the pieces of food & eat them as fast as she can. With rawhide chews, Abbey likes to throw them in the air & case after them,Abbey is a such a sweet girl & we are very thankful to have found her &
to have been able to adopt her. She has brought so much happiness to
us. Thanks so much again

Our New Gentle Giant

We are pleased to report that Aspen, our 92 pound Great Pyrennes is adjusting quickly to her new home. In fact as you can see from the photos she is quite comfortable in her new surroundings.

She had a few days of investigating our things and at times thought it was fun to move our possessions to new locations. In fact, she was very good all day and then when we came home from work she would begin her antics unless she was the center of attention.

She has stopped the PAY ATTENTION OR ELSE and now just looks forward to our arrival and her daily walks. She also has 2 brothers, Cooper who is a West Highland Terrier and Lucky who is a 12 year old black cat. They have all become great friends and spend much of their time napping together or romping around the backyard.

We are very happy with our new gentle giant. She loves to be petted and cuddled and has even on occasion figured out how to be a lap dog if we sit on the couch. Everything about our adoption of Aspen has been very positive! Thank you Shelter Staff for allowing us to have such an awesome experience!!!!!

Woof-woof! My name is 'Curly' (formerly 'Buddy'). I was adopted from the ECCHA just after Xmas 2004. I just wanted to let everyone know how I am doing. I am very happy in my new home and my Mom says she loves me very much! I have a great time socializing with new dogs AND humans! My favorite thing to do is give LOTS of kisses! I have been going to school and hope to graduate from beginner's obedience next week--wish me luck! I hope that all of my friends at the shelter are doing well and that they find good homes, too. XOXO--Curly.

This is just an update on Riley (formerly Ringo). We adopted him in April 2004 when he was 9 weeks old. Since then we have brought a friend into the home, Reggie, and they have become the best of friends. It was Riley's 1st birthday on February 13. He loved the cupcakes. He is a very loving dog and we are so happy to have him be a part of our family.
